Engagement and Alumni
IDEA will increase engagement with a focus on alumni engagement with current students. Dual degree engineering has produced over 4,000 alumni in the over 75 years of its existence. The initiative used to facilitate alumni engagement with current students is “Engineering Mentoring Network (EMN).”
EMN is a student outreach initiative facilitated through the campus experience management platform AUCConnect.
Students, alumni, and practicing engineers will be able to post a profile using the AUCConnect “connections tool” that lists availability and interests as a precursor for a connection. Students will be able to schedule mentoring and coaching-focused video calls based on this with industry professionals and alumni. After cultivating relationships, groups of students and alumni will schedule community service opportunities collectively to engage the community. Through mentorship and engagement, students, alumni, and industry professionals are expected to build the relationships central to engineering identity development and success in the engineering profession.
